Under the patronage of His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, the Ministry of Defense unveiled the Defense Digitalization Compass on Wednesday at Ahmed bin Mohammed Military College.
This initiative aims to transform the Qatar Armed Forces into a more efficient, information-driven, knowledge-based, and networked organization while enhancing digital proficiency among its personnel. The Defense Digitalization Compass aligns with Qatar's national security strategies and supports the Third National Development Strategy (NDS3), which emphasizes digital technology as a critical sector for developing long-term capabilities in emerging fields like artificial intelligence and robotics.
Focusing on systematic modernization, the compass seeks to improve technological infrastructure as well as work processes within the Ministry of Defense. Its goal is to maximize resource utilization while boosting overall performance and efficiency. By doing so, it positions the armed forces to be more adaptable and innovative, fully leveraging their joint capabilities across various domains. Lt. Gen. (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohammed Al Mannai, Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces, emphasized that effective implementation of this initiative would enhance readiness, effectiveness, and interoperability within military operations. He noted that transitioning to a data-driven force equipped with cutting-edge digital tools is essential for sustained success.
According to His Excellency Chief of Staff Al Mannai, digital transformation marks a new era in defense innovation by fostering investments in human talent alongside advanced weaponry and systems.
This shift will not only improve military operational efficiency but also enhance situational awareness among armed forces units—enabling them to respond effectively in increasingly complex operational environments.
