The Qatar Precision Health Institute (QPHI), a member of Qatar Foundation, has successfully concluded its Genome Heroes Stations tour across Ministry schools for the 2024/2025 academic year, reaching a total of 9,506 students across 38 schools.
Conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE), the initiative marks two years of joint efforts to introduce genomics education to primary school students in Qatar. The program utilized QPHI’s educational mobile game, Genome Heroes, to teach the fundamentals of genomics in an engaging and interactive format.
Developed by QPHI with support from Qatar Foundation students, Genome Heroes is available in both English and Arabic on Apple Store and Google Play. The game simplifies complex concepts such as genetics and heredity, aiming to raise awareness and build a foundational understanding of genomic science among children.
As part of its broader mission to inspire future scientists, QPHI is expanding its collaboration with Qatar Foundation’s Pre-University Education (PUE). This partnership focuses on introducing genome science to students in grades 1 to 6 through hands-on workshops and educational games. The Genome Heroes tour recently visited Qatar Foundation schools, including Qatar Academy Sidra and Academyati, where students actively engaged with the game and learned basic genomic concepts.
QPHI reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Qatar National Vision 2030 by promoting genomics education nationwide and nurturing the next generation of researchers and innovators. The initiative represents a starting point for deeper collaboration between QPHI and PUE, aimed at strengthening the scientific knowledge base of today’s students.
Beyond its outreach to younger learners, QPHI is also investing in capacity-building for healthcare professionals through seminars, specialized workshops, and the newly launched Tanawwo a dedicated Precision Health Networking Platform. The Institute is working closely with local universities to support graduate programs in precision health, addressing the skills gap and preparing a qualified workforce for this rapidly evolving field.
With a comprehensive educational strategy targeting K–12 students, university learners, and healthcare professionals, QPHI continues to advance its mission of translating genomics knowledge into practical impact, positioning Qatar as a regional leader in precision health education and innovation.
