The General Authority of Customs has participated in the Fifth Extraordinary Meeting of the Executive Council of the GCC Customs Union Authority, held on Monday, March 9, 2026, via videoconference.
The session was chaired by HE Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal, Chairman of the General Authority of Customs and President of the Executive Council of the GCC Customs Union Authority. Senior representatives from customs administrations across GCC member states also took part.
During the meeting, officials reviewed the collective efforts of Gulf countries to strengthen customs support amid ongoing regional challenges. Discussions centered on ensuring the uninterrupted movement of goods within the GCC, improving joint customs procedures, and safeguarding the continuity of supply and logistics chains across the region.
One of the key outcomes was the approval of a temporary exceptional mechanism designed to streamline transit and clearance processes for goods during the current circumstances. The new system aims to accelerate customs operations, reduce procedural bottlenecks, and further facilitate the flow of goods across intra-GCC border points.
Officials emphasized that such periodic meetings reflect the critical role of the GCC Customs Union Authority in advancing regional economic integration and reinforcing coordination among member states in all customs-related areas.
