The Shura Council took part on Wednesday in the 42nd session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, held via videoconference ahead of the union’s 39th conference, which is scheduled to convene virtually on Thursday.
Qatar was represented during the session by HE Sultan bin Hassan Al Dosari, member of the Shura Council and the union’s Executive Committee. The meeting was also attended by HE Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, member of the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and Vice-President of the committee representing the Arab Geopolitical Group.
Discussions during the session focused on reviewing reports submitted by specialized committees, alongside deliberations on organizational, administrative, and financial matters related to the functioning of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union. Participants also explored ways to strengthen the union’s mechanisms and addressed issues of shared interest within the framework of Arab parliamentary cooperation.
In a related development, HE Amina bint Youssef Al Jaidah, a member of the Shura Council, participated in a virtual meeting of the union’s Palestine Committee.
The session examined the latest developments concerning the Palestinian cause and highlighted strategies to enhance coordination among Arab parliaments in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. It also emphasized the importance of unifying parliamentary positions in regional and international forums, reinforcing collective Arab efforts in backing the Palestinian cause and advancing joint parliamentary action.
