The Qatar News Agency (QNA) is celebrating its Golden Jubilee today. This marks 50 years of achievements since it was founded on May 25, 1975. In these 50 years, QNA has become very important in the region and worldwide.
Since it started, QNA has been the official way to share Qatar's news, development, and successes both in the country and abroad. It was launched under Amiri Decree No. 94 in 1975. Its clear goal was to provide accurate and reliable news that shows Qatar's policies and its open, transparent approach to the world.
As QNA grew, it always stuck to its strong values: accuracy, responsibility, credibility, and integrity in reporting local and global events. The agency has always worked to make national media stronger as a key part of the country's overall development.
Now, as it celebrates its Golden Jubilee, Qatar's official news agency is proud of the media milestones it has reached over the past decades. Since it began 50 years ago, QNA hasn't stayed the same. It has continuously grown, modernized, and developed to keep up with changes in media and technology. This has made it a leading news platform that gives timely and full coverage of both local and international news.
QNA quickly saw the challenges that came with the rise of digital media, which reaches many people everywhere. To deal with this, and as part of its ongoing plans, the agency started a big partnership with Microsoft last October. This partnership means QNA will use more AI tools across its departments. The goal is to match global advancements in using AI, especially in news and journalism. This will help QNA be a leader in efficiency, accuracy, and new ways of producing media, supporting its aim to stay at the forefront of digital changes in the industry.
To further boost its modernization, QNA launched a new website and mobile app in December 2024. This was done to improve its online presence and offer advanced news content using the latest technology.
The new website is easy to use and technologically advanced. It has an AI-powered chatbot to give readers quick and accurate information. New sections have been added for easier access to local and international news, including special tabs for the activities of HH the Amir, HH the Deputy Amir, HE the Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and HE the Shura Council Speaker. The site also includes links to live local TV channels and offers helpful services like prayer times, 24/7 weather updates, and information on major events and exhibitions happening in Qatar.
