Nearly 417,000 students return as education authorities confirm full preparedness
Public and private schools throughout Qatar resumed face‑to‑face learning today, March 29, marking a return to regular classroom instruction following the completion of extensive preparatory measures by education authorities.
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education confirmed that all necessary arrangements were finalized to ensure a safe, stable, and welcoming school environment for almost 417,000 students. The preparations are part of broader efforts to guarantee the continuity of education and maintain a smooth learning process under varying conditions.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Ministry highlighted the key role played by its General Services Department in readying school facilities. This included carrying out preventive maintenance work, checking the operational efficiency of buildings, and ensuring technical and support services met approved standards. These measures were designed to support normal school operations and provide a secure setting for students and staff.
The Ministry also noted that the Health and Safety Department circulated updated regulatory guidelines addressing safety and security procedures for emergencies and exceptional situations. These guidelines aim to unify response mechanisms and enhance preparedness levels across schools nationwide.
Meanwhile, the Schools and Student Affairs Department held coordination meetings with assistant principals, as well as psychological and social specialists. Discussions focused on effective ways to welcome students back to school, support their emotional well‑being following recent circumstances, and promote a positive and motivating learning environment.
Education officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that schools remain safe, supportive spaces that enable students to thrive academically and socially as in‑person learning resumes across the country.
