The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara has revealed a new mural titled “A Cultural Bridge Through Art”, located at Building 16 near Creativity Square. The unveiling ceremony welcomed Saif Saad Al-Dosari, Deputy General Manager and Director of Human Resources at Katara, alongside H.E. Jean-Marie Francois Junior Guillaume, Ambassador of Haiti to Qatar, and several art and culture enthusiasts.
Commissioned by the Haitian Embassy in Qatar, the mural was crafted by Haitian artist Olfer Ganthier under the guidance of curator Roxane Ledan. The artwork symbolizes the growing cultural ties between Qatar and Haiti, aligning with Katara’s mission to foster dialogue and understanding through artistic expression.
The mural features a blend of iconic imagery from both nations: a Qatari falcon at its center, a hot air balloon soaring above Haiti’s historic Citadelle Laferrière, and a camel walking beside a vibrantly decorated Haitian “Tap Tap” bus inscribed with the word “Peace.” These elements, along with representations of nature, architecture, and agriculture, illustrate the shared values and cultural richness of both countries.
Ambassador Guillaume expressed his appreciation to Katara for its ongoing support of artistic initiatives and its role in promoting global cultural engagement. He praised the opportunity given to a Haitian artist to showcase his heritage in one of the region’s most prominent cultural venues.
Artist Olfer Ganthier described the mural as a significant moment in his career, reflecting the unity and mutual respect between the two cultures.
This mural is part of Katara’s broader initiative to transform its space into an open-air gallery, celebrating cultural diversity and creative exchange. It reinforces Katara’s position as a leading cultural institution in the region and beyond.
