The Qatar Photography Center, operating under the Ministry of Culture, has officially opened submissions for the inaugural Doha Photography Award an ambitious initiative designed to celebrate visual storytelling and elevate Qatar’s photographic identity on the global stage.
Photographers of all ages and experience levels, both local and international, are invited to submit their work between August 10 and October 2. The competition spans six distinct categories: “Qatar,” which focuses on the nation’s landmarks and cultural essence; “General – Colors”; “General – Black and White”; “Special Theme – Emotions”; “Storytelling,” which requires a cohesive photo series; and a dedicated category for emerging Qatari photographers under 18.
With total prizes exceeding QR2 million, the award offers substantial recognition. The top prize in the Qatar category reaches QR300,000, while winners in other categories can earn QR150,000 for first place, QR100,000 for second, and QR75,000 for third.
To maintain the integrity and quality of submissions, entries must be captured using professional cameras. AI-generated images, watermarks, and logos are strictly prohibited, and all submissions must meet specific technical standards.
Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain, Director of the Qatar Photography Center, expressed pride in launching this landmark award, emphasizing its role in providing a global platform for photographers to showcase their creativity and document the beauty of Qatar through compelling visuals.
The award is expected to attract wide international interest due to its diverse themes, generous prizes, and the opportunity for photographers to gain exposure on a platform that commands both local and global attention.
