Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met in Tehran on Thursday with Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, H E Abbas Aragchi, to discuss regional developments and ongoing efforts aimed at reducing tensions and promoting dialogue.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the latest developments across the region and examined diplomatic initiatives designed to ease tensions and foster conditions that support constructive dialogue. These efforts, they noted, are important for strengthening regional security and stability.

The talks also covered ongoing discussions surrounding a proposed interim framework. The proposal includes the creation of a temporary joint shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz, as well as an agreement to implement a joint project focused on clearing mines from the strategic waterway.

H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani underscored the importance of respecting the sovereignty of neighboring countries and safeguarding freedom of navigation. He also stressed the need to continue diplomatic engagement as a means of reducing tensions and resolving disputes through dialogue.

For his part, H E Abbas Aragchi expressed his appreciation to the State of Qatar for its continued diplomatic efforts aimed at supporting dialogue and helping to prevent further escalation in the region.
