The State of Qatar has renewed its call for greater international collaboration and unrestricted humanitarian access to help address the growing number of crises affecting communities worldwide, while stressing the importance of involving local partners in relief efforts.

The message was delivered by Minister of State for International Cooperation HE Dr. Maryam bint Ali Al Misnad during the high-level ministerial event titled “87 Million Lives: Delivering on the Promise,” held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Speaking at the event, HE Al Misnad emphasized that responding to escalating humanitarian challenges is a collective responsibility shared by the international community.

She noted that the increasing overlap of humanitarian emergencies and natural disasters requires stronger coordination and forward-looking action to ensure consistent support reaches those in need. She also underlined the importance of guaranteeing the safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance to affected populations.

The minister highlighted the value of humanitarian partnerships in improving the planning and implementation of aid programs. She said cooperation among key stakeholders is essential for managing resources effectively and achieving meaningful outcomes on the ground.

HE Al Misnad further advocated for a community-centered approach to humanitarian operations, encouraging active participation from local communities in program design and execution to enhance the effectiveness of international assistance.

Qatar also called for the development of targeted response strategies that reflect the specific circumstances of communities affected by crises. Such approaches, she said, should ensure the meaningful involvement of local actors, including young people and women-led organizations, to maximize the impact and efficiency of funding and support initiatives.

The remarks reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to strengthening humanitarian action through international cooperation, inclusive partnerships, and locally driven solutions aimed at supporting vulnerable populations worldwide.
