The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has issued a public advisory urging consumers in Qatar to refrain from using specific batches of infant milk products sold under the Nestlé brand.
In a statement shared on its official X account on Wednesday, the ministry said the alert concerns selected batches of infant formula that were removed from the local market due to suspected contamination. The concern relates to a toxin potentially linked to Bacillus cereus, a type of bacteria that can pose health risks, particularly to infants.
MoPH called on parents and caregivers to remain vigilant and place the safety and wellbeing of children first. It clarified that full details of the affected products, including brand names and batch numbers, have been provided in an accompanying image released with the advisory.
Consumers were advised to carefully inspect product labels and batch information before use. The ministry urged anyone who has purchased the listed batches to return them immediately to the place of purchase or dispose of them safely.
According to MoPH, the recall is a precautionary step aimed at preventing any potential health risks and safeguarding infants. The ministry confirmed that its Food Safety Department has implemented all necessary measures, including coordination with retailers, to ensure the rapid withdrawal of the suspected products from shelves.
The ministry also noted that laboratory testing is currently underway to confirm the safety of the products. It added that no cases of illness associated with the affected batches have been reported to date.
MoPH reiterated its commitment to protecting public health and encouraged the public to follow official guidance and updates.
