Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani joined a consultative meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers on July 28, 2026, held via video conference.

During the meeting, the ministers reviewed developments across the region and exchanged perspectives on the current situation, including the progress of ongoing negotiations and efforts aimed at achieving practical understandings that could help ease tensions and support regional security and stability.

The discussions also addressed measures to strengthen coordination and consultation among GCC member states on matters related to freedom of navigation and maritime safety in the Strait of Hormuz. The ministers highlighted the importance of safeguarding passage and transit rights while ensuring the uninterrupted movement of vessels, trade, and essential supplies in accordance with international law and with full respect for the sovereignty of Gulf nations.

The GCC foreign ministers reaffirmed their commitment to continued joint cooperation and stressed the importance of prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions. They also emphasized the need to foster conditions that encourage confidence-building and facilitate mutually acceptable outcomes for all parties involved.
